Evaluation:
During our preliminary task we learnt that its important to make sure the positioning of the tripod is correct. We learnt the basic techniques of camera safety and usage.
We also learnt how to use the editing software on the Apple Mac computers in order to apply continuity editing and practice for our main task.
After watching our work we noticed that closer concentration on our use of the tripod would have made a difference to our preliminary task.
For future reference we will need to improve on our placement of the tripod. We will achieve this by using the "level-buble" effectively.
We achieved a "Shot-reverse-shot" by moving the camera frames from one persons face to another.
In the finished Prelim film, we had Amy sat on the opposite side of the table from Chloe and in anger, Amy slides her mobile phone across the table. This is then emphasized by the use of shot reverse shot editing. The camera focused on Amy and then on Chloe, to the phone shot and back to Amy and Chloe.
In our preliminary task we chose to use a match cut when showing Amy's entrance thought the door we did a long shot of Amy walking towards the door and then did a Match Cut/Close Up of Amy's hand pushing the door open. Then to a match of another long shot of Amy walking out the other side of the door, and walking off out of the frame.
We also had to practice the "180 degree rule", we achieved it by standing the camera's tripod against a wall. this enabled the eye line matches to be accurate and we also used parallel cuts for "over the shoulder" shots. This ensured the shots would not cross over the 180 degree mark.
